As the holiday season comes to an end and Canadians head back to work and settle back into their routines, it is important to reflect on the year that has just past and look to what the future has in store for you. As I have just finished up my first three months at Nutrients for Life, I feel it’s important that I do the same. In September the Board of Directors instructed the NFL staff to get back to our roots – teaching Canadians about the importance of plant nutrients in food production. This is no small task as there are many obstacles that could have gotten in our way - geography, limited knowledge of plant nutrients and weather – however, this is a challenge that we have risen against. Through provincial teacher conferences we were able to meet with hundreds of teachers and introduce them to the various Nutrients for Life (NFL) initiatives, including our Nourishing the Planet in the 21st Century curriculum, the Learning Garden concept, periodic tables and our Teacher Ambassador program.
