This high school in Rogersville New Brunswick has a teacher, Claude Vautour, with a vision to get his students engaged, out of the classroom and get their hands dirty. He is the environmental science, and horticulture and landscaping teacher. He is developing a community based project to get the students working more with the trades, sustainable environmental practices, respecting nature and biodiversity which provides a rewarding and significant experience for all. It is a multi year project and if this year was any indication of the work that can be done, this project will succeed beyond anyone’s expectations. This area will become a community focus point so everyone can enjoy the beauty they have created now and in the years to come. They had a garden opening on June 12 to showcase all the work done so far. Mr.Vautour has partnered with many local businesses, farmers, to build an amazing outdoor area that includes a greenhouse, pathways, flowerbeds, a patio, raised garden beds, garden and water features. It was well attended and it was touching to see Mr.Vautour’s passion for engaging his students and his passion surely shows in the work they have done so far this year. BRAVO!!
