Dale McKay

Dale grew up on a mixed farm near Wawanesa, Manitoba, and now resides in Brandon. He has spent nearly four decades with Shur-Gro Farm Services, serving in a variety of roles before becoming Chief Executive Officer. Under his leadership, Shur-Gro has grown to include 13 retail locations and a fertilizer distribution terminal serving southern Manitoba.

Dale holds an MBA in Agricultural Economics from the University of Guelph and an Agribusiness Diploma from Assiniboine Community College. His education, combined with extensive hands-on experience, has shaped a career focused on strengthening Manitoba’s agricultural retail sector.

He is actively involved in both industry and community leadership. Dale currently serves as Secretary of the Brandon Area Community Foundation Board and Secretary of the Nutrients for Life Canada Board of Directors and is a member of Fertilizer Canada’s Retail Advisory Council. His past leadership roles include Vice-Chair of the Assiniboine College Board of Governors, President of the Keystone Centre Board of Directors, President of the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba, and Chairman of the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair. He has also contributed to numerous agricultural and community organizations at the provincial and national levels.

A strong supporter of youth and community sport, Dale has volunteered as a coach, manager, and instructor in hockey, soccer, and curling, and has served on sponsorship and finance committees for major events including the Memorial Cup, World Curling Championships, and Olympic Curling Trials.

Dale and his wife Natalie have three children, three in-laws, and seven grandchildren.
