Join us for a day of learning all about Nova Scotia Agriculture. It will be a full day of hands-on activities to bring agriculture, food, science, and engineering to incorporate into your classroom. Open to all grade levels. It promises to be a great day of learning complete with a farm tour
This is a partnership between Dalhousie Faculty of Agriculture, Agriculture in the Classroom Nova Scotia, and Nutrients for Life Canada.
Lunch and snacks will be provided, please let us know of any dietary restrictions, including allergies.

Each day we will host a live event and have independent study. Participants in the seminar will receive a package with resource and materials needed for the workshop.
Using the Nutrients for Life Foundation resources, educators will learn the scientific reasoning behind soil, nutrients and sustainable practices used to grow enough food to feed the growing world population. Educators participating in the professional development will be provided the necessary knowledge, free resources and experience to take back to their classrooms with ready to go hands on inquiry-based lesson plans.

Students from 4-H Ghana will share their experiences from participating in the 4R Champion program and how the program helped them grow and flourish!

-Dr. Samuel Njoroge, of African Plant Nutrition Institute will also be joining the sessions.
Students from Manitoba, United States and England joined the staff from NFL Canada and partners at Kelburn Farm for three jammed packed days focussing on Bioinnovation. Student teams of eight and two teachers had the opportunity to engage, provide enrichment and networking opportunities for participants on a global perspective.
The learning objectives of the program are to enable students and teachers to:
• Use science and technology to acquire new knowledge and solve problems
• Critically address science related issues
• Develop an increased awareness of novel technologies
• Practice teamwork
The program partners will offer their expertise and services to ensure that the program provides authentic and meaningful learning
experiences to guide in the development and presentation of the product, an ” Environmental Farm Plan – EFP”.
Thanks to our partners in providing such a learning opportunity for these students.
Program providers include: Richardson Pioneer, University of Manitoba Faculty of Agriculture and Food Sciences, U of M Glenlea Research Center, Kelburn Farm, Ducks Unlimited Canada, Manitoba Agriculture, Bayer Crop Science and the Bioscience Association of Manitoba.
Hundreds of students from Fort Richmond Collegiate joined the NFL team at Richardson's Kelburn Farm for three days in September. The students worked in teams and moved through 4 stations exploring Smart Agriculture. The students focused on 4R Nutrient Stewardship, Best Management Practices, Soil Testing, Sustainable Farming, watershed health.

Relier les étudiants à la terre, à la science du sol et à l'agriculture durable lors des journées 4R/Climate Smart Ag Days à Churchbridge, SK. La NFL s'est jointe à Sharpe's Soil Services, à l'Université de la Saskatchewan et aux aînés locaux pour faciliter l'engagement des stations qui ont permis aux étudiants de participer à des activités pratiques, des démonstrations et des discussions.
Ces webinaires s’adressent aux enseignants passionnés par les sciences, la technologie, l’ingénierie et les mathématiques (STIM) et désireux d’en savoir plus sur les expériences centrées sur les élèves et fondées sur la recherche, qui préparent ces derniers à réussir dans la recherche et les carrières en STIM! Des experts du Centre canadien de rayonnement synchrotron (CCRS) expliqueront aux enseignants comment la recherche sur le synchrotron peut contribuer à soutenir le développement des compétences des élèves dans le domaine de la recherche, du travail d’équipe, de la communication scientifique, de l’apprentissage de nouvelles perspectives, entre autres.
Qu’est-ce qu’un synchrotron?
Un synchrotron est une source lumineuse de haute intensité que les scientifiques peuvent utiliser pour recueillir des renseignements sur les propriétés structurelles et chimiques des matériaux au niveau moléculaire. Un synchrotron produit de la lumière en utilisant des ondes radioélectriques et de puissants électroaimants qui soumettent les électrons à une accélération à une vitesse avoisinant celle de la lumière. Différents spectres de lumière, comme l’infrarouge, l’ultraviolet et les rayons X, sont dirigés vers des lignes de faisceaux où les chercheurs choisissent la longueur d’onde souhaitée pour étudier leurs échantillons. Les chercheurs observent l’interaction entre la lumière et la matière de leur échantillon dans les stations terminales (petits laboratoires). Les données obtenues peuvent servir à concevoir de nouveaux médicaments, à fabriquer des batteries plus efficaces et plus propres, à assainir les sols des mines et à innover dans le domaine des engrais et des variétés de cultures, pour ne citer que quelques applications. Le Centre canadien de rayonnement synchrotron - la seule installation synchrotron du Canada - est situé à Saskatoon, en Saskatchewan.
