Hugh Loomans

Hugh Loomans bought Sylvite in 1983 with a vision towards strategic growth and forming an integrated, international, multi-faceted company that was independent and Canadian. Hugh developed his business to represent the characteristics that he values – striving for integrity and honesty by doing what we say. His word is his commitment to the customer to provide services to the best of the company’s ability and making that performance the means of generating success for both the customer and the company. Hugh holds a B.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Guelph and he is a Certified Professional Agrologist. Hugh has been active in the industry for over 30 years. He is a past-President of the Fertilizer Institute of Ontario, Chairman of Canadian Fertilizer Institute, Director of the Fertilizer Institute in Washington, D.C., and past-Chairman of Nutrients for Life Foundation. He is a member of the Ontario Trucking Association and the Canadian Industrial Chemical Association and other international, provincial and state organizations. Hugh is a member of Joseph Brant hospital fund-raising committee and is actively involved in many other community charitable foundations. Hugh is the majority shareholder in the Sylvite Holdings Inc.
