In 2008, Canadian Fertilizer Institute (www.cfi.ca) founded Nutrients for Life Foundation Canada. Today, it is a registered Canadian charitable organization made up of educators, community groups, scientists and representatives from the agricultural sector, including farmers, agri-retailers and members of the fertilizer industry. Together we produce and distribute educational materials on soil science and agricultural sustainability. Our goal is to help Canadians better understand how nutrients increase the health and quality of our soil, improve production of nutritious foods and preserve green spaces.
With the world population rapidly increasing to an estimated 9 billion people by 2050, food security is a growing issue. Nutrients for Life hopes to address this issue through its educational resources and programs, while working with educators across Canada to ensure that our resources meet the needs of teachers and students.
We support Canada’s school-curriculum needs with science-based content of the highest quality. To validate its pedagogical value, our educational materials were reviewed by the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest research organization and museum complex.
Nutrients for Life is working on maintaining its successful relationships with organizations such as the Canada Agriculture Museum. This new partnership between NFL and the Canada Agriculture Museum will include collaboration in the area of education, where Nutrients for Life will be able to teach its important topics on soil science and modern agriculture at the museum in its new Learning Centre. Currently, Nutrients for Life is working towards procuring partnerships with various organizations in the community to further extend its message.
