About

The objective of the Foundation is to be a resource centre providing science-based information to increase the understanding of how nutrients improve the health of our soil, the plants that grow in it, and ultimately, the foods that we eat. Our efforts aim to increase awareness of the important role that plant nutrients play in growing food to feed the increasing world population and meeting the demand for more diverse diets.

Plant nutrients, especially nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulphur, are also required to keep our parks, gardens, playgrounds, sports fields and golf courses green and healthy in communities across the country.

Our Foundation informs the public of the role of nutrients in both the production of nutritious, abundant food and preservation of healthy green spaces through the development of educational resources and an outreach campaign to Canadians across the country.

All information developed by our Foundation is based on soil and plant science and supported by agronomists, including those at the International Plant Nutrition Institute. The Canadian educational materials are based on curriculum which has been reviewed by the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest museum complex and research organization.
